Police disperse protests by ‘Adivasi’ students

Protesters hold a rally in front of Dhaka University's Raju Sculpture on Thursday, Jan 16, 2025, under the banner of 'Agitated Adivasi Students' in response to the attack on students who took to the streets to protest the removal of imagery with the word 'Adivasi' from ninth and tenth grade textbooks. When the protesters tried to move towards the Secretariat from there, police used water cannons and batons to disperse the crowd in front of the Shikkha Bhaban.

Colleges turn into battlefields in Jatrabari

Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College in Dhaka’s Jatrabari turned into a battlefield due to clashes on Monday, Nov 25, 2024. Hundreds of students of the capital’s Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College attacked Molla College around noon. Later, running battles were fought between the Mollah College students, joined by locals, and the pupils of Suhrawardy and Kabi Nazrul College.
