A force is looking for new means to try and remain in power, according to BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.

A force is trying to find new measures to try and remain in power, according to BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.

He made the remarks while extending his Eid-Ul-Fitr greetings to the party’s activists from his home in Chattogram’s Mehedibagh on Tuesday.

No one should allow this new Bangladesh to change – whether they are a “fascist” force or another, he said.

“Fascists are a force that seizes power in a certain way,” he said. “There is another kind of force that tries to find new and novel ways to remain in power. The fascists were unable to cling to power. The people of Bangladesh are ready to ensure that no one force tries to do so either.”

A fresh election wind is blowing since the fall of the “fascists”, the BNP leader says.

“Everyone is able to see the fresh wind of the elections. Everyone is excited and interested in the election. Everyone believes the country is moving towards an election. In Bangladesh, elections are held in a festive atmosphere. Today, it seems that the people will once again return to that joyous polling atmosphere after many years.”

For the past 16-17 years, the BNP has been fighting for aspirations, for freedom, and for democracy, Amir Khosru said. That aspiration is that the government will be run by a parliament elected by the people and accountable to the people.

The people are waiting for that aspiration to be fulfilled, he said.

The atmosphere of today is completely different to that of previous years, the BNP leader said.

This is what Bangladesh is and how it should be, he said.
