Villagers in Shailkupa Upazila of Jhenaidah have captured and tied up a fishing cat.

On Sunday morning, residents of Biprabagdia village spotted the fishing cat perched on a tree branch.

Baharul Islam, a Biprabagdia resident, said that the animal would be handed over to the Forest Department.

He said, "The villagers carefully tied the fishing cat with rope and brought it down from the tree. It has been kept safe, and once the Forest Department officers arrive, we will hand it over to them."

Shailkupa Upazila executive officer Snigdha Rani Das said she was informed of the situation and had spoken to Forest Department officers.

"They will take the animal and release it safely into the wild," she said, urging everyone to be aware of wildlife conservation.
