In the coming decade, about 15,000 ships - or one in eight of the entire global fleet - will come in for recycling - twice the amount of the past decade, a report says

In Old Dhaka’s Lalbagh, Hazaribagh, and Rayerbazar embankment areas, factories process plastic waste, melting it down to create new materials. These factories receive plastic waste from across the country. Bangladesh generates 900,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually, of which only 40 percent is recycled. The remainder pollutes the environment.
