Welcoming monsoon in the city

The arrival of the Bengali month of Ashar has been greeted with songs, dance, and poetry: an ode to the much-revelled monsoon. With the skies overcast, festivity and celebrations took hold around the Bakul tree at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Dhaka University on Sunday, organised by the National Borsha Uthshob Celebration Committee.

Last minute rush at brick kilns

After a few months of firing bricks at brickfields, the dried and complete bricks are taken away before the monsoon arrives. The massive task is now underway at the brickfields on the banks of the Dhaleshwari River in Keraniganj's Jazira.
