The lives of the people of the two Upazilas on both banks are at risk due to the damage to the sluice gate located at the mouth of the Bay of Bengal and the Feni River. The breakdown of the sluice gate could lead to millions of taka in losses as locals lose fish farms and crops planted in the Char areas.

Relief piles up at DU Physical Education Centre

Relief materials collected by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement for flood-affected victims in various districts has have relocated from the Teacher-Student Centre, or TSC, due to space constraints. The new collection points at Dhaka University's Physical Education Centre, central playground, and swimming pool were quickly filled with substantial supplies by the second day, Monday, Aug 26, 2024.
