Farewell to Goddess Durga

Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival for the Bengali Hindus, drew to a close through the immersion of the goddess’s idols. The festival, which began with the setting of a water-filled pot beneath a bel tree on Sasthi, came to a close on the final day of the Puja – Bijoya Dashami.

On the morning of Ashtami, several temples in Dhaka held Kumari Puja on the occasion of Durga Puja, one of the most significant religious festivals celebrated by Hindus. The Kumari Puja symbolises the importance of humanity, the respect and dignity of women, and worshipping the Hindu Goddess Durga. The rituals were performed in several temples, including the Ramakrishna Mission, on Friday, Oct 11, 2024.
