Sarjis Alam, the chief organiser of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the northern region, has said the party will apply for registration with the Election Commission in the middle of the month.
On Monday, he said the party already formed committees across 100 Upazilas and 22 districts to fulfil the registration mandate.
He said, “We expect to complete the registration process required to participate in the elections, including the application, by Jun 16.
On the national election, Sarjis said: "If we see a visible judicial process and basic reforms by the judiciary, law enforcement, and the Election Commission, then we have no objection to holding the election in April. But these election-related reforms must be ensured beforehand.
“In the next few months, an NCP organisational convening committee will be held in every ward of Bangladesh and our election-related preparations will be largely completed through those.”
About former president Abdul Hamid's return, Sarjis said: “This is a post-uprising government. We want the government to take strict action against the fascist Awami League and their allies, who have long contributed to the rise of fascism.
“We are closely monitoring the government's actions on this matter. We believe they will continue to express their strong stance through their actions.”
