Restaurants crowd the Banasree residential area in Dhaka
Dhaka’s Banasree is designated as a residential zone, but restaurants and commercial businesses can be seen all over the area.
Restaurants and other commercial enterprises occupy many of the lower floors of buildings in Rampur’s Banasree even though the area is designated as a residential zone. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
This building in Banasree has two staircases, one leading to the restaurants on the first and second floors, and the other to the residential apartments. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
Stores occupy a section of the ground floor at this residential building in Dhaka’s Banasree. The first floor is taken up by a restaurant, while the rest of the floors house apartments. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
Though restaurants occupy floors on many residential buildings in Banasree, none of them have their own parking. Guests at these restaurants often park their vehicles on the road, blocking it. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
The ground floor of the building is taken up by a restaurant and a signboard for the eatery is hung from the balcony on the second floor. It is a common sight in many Banasree buildings. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
