Renovations at historic Dhaka Gate

The government has started renovation work on the 350-year old Dhaka Gate to restore its previous look after years of carelessness and negligence. Mir Jumla, the Mughal governor of Bangla, built the Dhaka Gate between 1660 and 1663 to mark the boundaries of Dhaka and protect it from enemy attack.

Its western section lies next to the Dhaka University's Computer Science Building, the eastern end is in front of the entrance of the three leaders' mausoleum in Suhrawardy Udyan, and the middle is in the TSC-bound roads from Dhaka’s Doyel Chattar.
