Old Dhaka gears up for Shakrain
On the last day of 'Paush,' the residents of Old Dhaka are drawn to the city markets of Shankharibazar, brimming with multicoloured kites ahead of Shakrain, the festival of kites.
The shops in Old Dhaka's Shankharibazar are abuzz during religious festivals as the shopkeepers are seen selling items of worship made of conch and brass. However, during Shakrain, the same shops are filled with vibrant colours of rhomboid-shaped highfliers or kites. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
