Trees dying on Dhaka’s roads

There is little room for beautification of road dividers. But the trees planted in that small amount of space on the roads are dying due to lack of proper care, as can be seen in these photos from a Mirpur Road intersection in Dhaka.

An old tree planted in the road dividers in the Sobhanbag area of Dhaka’s Mirpur Road has died of neglect.

Fences have been put up to protect the trees recently planted in the road dividers on Dhaka’s Mirpur Road, but the lack of rain has dried up the spoil and caused the trees to wither. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi

At first the trees planted in the road dividers in the Sobhanbag area of Dhaka’s Mirpur Road flourished, with their branches growing out into the sun. But, neglect and a lack of care has seen many of these trees die out. Photo: Mahmud Zaman Ovi
