Faridpur’s ‘basket village’

For generations, the people of Chandpur Mallikpara village in Faridpur Sadar Upazila have been crafting bamboo baskets by hand. This age-old tradition supports the livelihoods of over a hundred families in the area. Renowned for their skill and craftsmanship, the village’s baskets are well known in surrounding districts. Locally, the village is often affectionately referred to as “Jhurir Gram" (basket village).
