Lush crops grow in the silt of the Chengi
The Chengi River starts in the Indian state of Tripura. It winds its way through Atharmura, Logang, Panchari, Bhaibonchara, Khagrachhari and Maischhari before it flows into Kaptai Lake. Lush farmland can be seen on either side of the river.

About 250 streams from the Khagrachhari hills meet to form the Chengi River. The silt deposited by the river has made both of its banks extremely fertile. Photo: Samir Mallik
