Actress Tanin Rahman Subha has died after spending eight days on life support in a Dhaka hospital.
Doctors on duty declared her dead at 7:57pm on Tuesday. She was 31 years old.
Actress Rumana Islam Mukti told Glitz, "Tanin lost the battle to stay alive. Doctors said Tanin’s heart stopped."
Her body will be taken from the hospital to her family home in Madaripur’s Koyaria union, where she will be buried.
Rumana added that Tanin is survived by two daughters, one of whom is two and a half years old.
The actress had suddenly fallen ill on Jun 2. She was first taken to a clinic near her home in Aftabnagar and later returned home after initial treatment.
She, however, became ill again in the evening and was admitted to a hospital in Banasree.
As her condition worsened, doctors advised advanced treatment.
She was then taken late at night to a private hospital in Dhanmondi, where she remained on life support for several days.
Celebrities have mourned her death. Actress Shirin Shila wrote: “Tanin has left us, may you rest in peace.”
Actor Symon Sadik, who worked with Tanin in her last film “Matir Pori”, shared memories on Facebook.
He wrote, "We never realised you [Tanin] were preparing to leave this world. We met during the shooting of ‘Matir Pori’. You were a kind-hearted person, always eager to do good work.”
“Since we had few scenes together, you once said to me ‘Bhaiya, if I had been the producer, you would have been cast as the hero opposite me’.”
He added, “Your smiling face came to my mind today. I didn’t get the chance to ask how you were doing. I believe the Almighty will grant you peace.”
Tanin began her journey in entertainment through commercials before moving on to television dramas and films.
Her big screen debut came with “Matir Pori”, followed by several other films awaiting release.
She had recently signed on to appear in “Dena Paona”, a new film directed by Sadek Siddiqui.
