Two days after its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and a theatrical release in the US, “Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning”, the latest and reportedly the final instalment of the action franchise starring Tom Cruise, has now arrived at Dhaka’s Star Cineplex.
Premiering alongside it is Marvel Studios’ latest release “Thunderbolts”, which is also being screened on the same day at the capital’s Star Cineplex.
According to a press release by Star Cineplex, "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" is being screened across 34 shows at its seven branches starting Friday, while Thunderbolts has bagged 31 shows.

Tom Cruise’s iconic "Mission: Impossible" franchise has long been a fan favourite worlwide.
Seven films have been released in the series till date, with "Final Reckoning" marking the eighth instalment. The previous chapter, "Dead Reckoning Part One", came out in 2023.
"Final Reckoning" picks up directly from where the last film left off. The story revolves around a powerful new technology known as “The Entity”, which antagonist Gabriel seeks to control to establish global dominance.
To stop him, Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise, must uncover the secret to confronting The Entity and rally his former allies for one more high-stakes mission.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film also stars Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Angela Bassett, Hayley Atwell, and Esai Morales, among others.
The film’s Cannes premiere saw Cruise and co-stars in attendance.
Thunderbolts*
"Thunderbolts*" brings the curtain down on phase five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and was released internationally on May 2.
Directed by Jake Schreier, the film follows a team of anti-heroes confronting their dark pasts as they embark on a high-stakes mission.
The screenplay was penned by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo.
The cast includes Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Olga Kurylenko, Wyatt Russell, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
