Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal is being transferred to another hospital a day after undergoing a heart stent procedure at KPJ Specialised Hospital in Savar.
Tamim will be taken to Evercare Hospital on Tuesday evening, according to family sources.
He has no immediate health complications, and his care at KPJ Hospital has been proceeding smoothly.
His family, however, opted to change hospitals in order to access better facilities and bring him to Dhaka for further care.
Although the initial risk after surgery is minimal, doctors had earlier said the cricketer would need to be observed for 48 to 72 hours.
Earlier in the day, Abu Jafor, director general of the Directorate of Health Services (DGHS), recommended against switching hospitals at this stage during his visit to Tamim at the hospital.
Following the family's request, a medical board was convened at KPJ Hospital to discuss the matter.
They later confirmed that the transfer posed minimal risk at this point. Tamim also consulted with his doctors regarding the decision.
Tamim, the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club, suffered a heart attack at Savar’s BKSP on Monday.
Mohammadan's trainer Yakub Chowdhury Dalim performed continuous CPR, and the hospital staff acted swiftly to perform the heart stent procedure.
By that evening, Tamim had stabilised, spoke with close relatives, and even had his dinner.
From Tuesday morning, his condition showed further improvement, and he started to walk gradually.
With steady recovery, the decision was made to transfer Tamim to Evercare Hospital, where he is expected to stay for several days.
