India clinch second straight ICC title
A record third title for India in the competition as well. They were unbeaten all through the tournament.
KL Rahul (34) and Ravindra Jadeja (9), both unbeaten, diligently push India past the finishing line with an over and 4 wickets to spare in the face of a defiant New Zealand side that fought till the end.
Jadeja hits the winning runs. Pulls one past deep square leg and into the fence. Raises his arms in delight, so does Rahul as the rest of the team rushes out to the middle. A second straight ICC title for India.
Pandya and KL Rahul add 38 in six overs, taking India to the doorsteps of the win, but Jamieson produces a magic delivery with a steep bounce, drawing an easy return catch for him. With India still 11 runs away with 15 balls in hand, Rahul and Jadeja steadily but surely forged ahead.

Axar falls as NZ chip away
Bracewell did so well with the bat and now he’s returned with the ball to pick out Axar (29) with India 50 runs adrift of the target.
Bracewell floats one on off stump, Axar walks down the track and looks to go over long-off. But the batter completely mishits as O'Rourke runs in and pouches it safely at long on.
India look nervy on 203 for 5 in 42 overs, needing 49 more off 48 balls.

Shreyas blunders aiming for quick runs
Is there a late twist in this game? New Zealand are staying afloat. Shreyas goes for a fabulous catch by Ravindra.
The batsman tried to guide it fine on the leg side off the middle stump but gets it off the splice. Ravindra then swiftly moved to his left and grabbed it inches off the turf! What a great catch at a time like this!
India are190 for 4 in 39 overs with Axar leading the chase with KL Rahul.

Jamieson drops Shreyas
A huge moment in the game as Shreyas, right after launching a huge 109-metre six over deep midwicket, tried to go again but picked out Jamieson at long on. But the catch flew in mid-waist for the fielders who struggled to keep balance and ended up spilling it.
Was that the match, thus the trophy, going down for New Zealand?
India are 183 for 3 in 38 overs with Shreyas on 48 off 58 balls with Axar (22) needing another 69 from 72 balls.

NZ squeeze out Rohit wicket
The pressure of dots and scoring drought helps New Zealand take out dangerman Rohit (76) as the Indian skipper danced down the track to Ravindra, misses and gets stumped.
As Rohit walks back with his head down, the crowd applaud for his valiant 83-ball knock. But the Black caps are well in the game now.
India are 122 for 27 overs, with the last nine overs producing 19 runs 3 wickets.

Superman Phillips snares Gill
Phillips has grabbed a blinder at cover to send Gill (31) packing off Santner to break the century stand of openers.

India are 65 for 0 in 10.1 overs, in cruise control at the moment. New Zealand need wickets.

Mitchell drops Gill as India openers cruise
Two fours and a six in the first 11 balls he has faced, and Rohit Sharma has taken India to 22 for 0 in just two overs. This is the typical Rohit start seeking to put India so far ahead of the asking rate that they can absorb quiet periods if needed. India are 59 for no loss in 9 overs.
India reached their fastest fifty in the tournament, off 44 balls. Rohit hammered his 344th six in a typical start for India as they look to build a foundation to absorb the quiet periods if needed.
Mitchell flung himself to his right to grab a hook from Gill but spilled it. Tough one! Mitchell actually moved too far on his right as the ball hit him on the wrist. India 45 for 0 in seven overs.
Kane Williamson has sustained a quad strain while batting, and will not take the field. Mark Chapman is his replacement on the field.

Bracewell lifts NZ past 250
Bracewell clubbed 3 boundaries and 2 sixes for a fluent 40-ball 53 that helped New Zealand squeeze past 250 in the last ball of the innings and post 251.
The came on to the bat when the track broke further up but the assistance for spinners was clear. New Zealand will need a strong performance from their bowlers to defend the total against the vaunted line up of India.
Pacers gave away 104 runs in just 12 overs. Spinners have conceded just 144 in 38 overs. Not much grip on the surface
Daryl Mitchell's 63 off 101 was hardly against any pace bowling as Bracewell got enough.

Mitchell holes out
Mitchell’s difficult innings comes to an end (63 off 101 balls). Shami gets one back when Mitchell pulls straight to cover as Rohit grabs a simple catch.
A slower and fuller delivery outside off stump as Mitchell looked to launch this over covers, mistimes it completely to hole out in front of extra cover.
New Zealand are hoping for a late flourish on 212 for 6 after 46 overs.

Varun ripper castles Phillips

Kuldeep googly outwits Ravindra
Kuldeep Yadav delivered a googly that sneaked past the gates of the dangerous Rachin Ravindra (37) after New Zealand accumulated 67 in the powerplay.
Superb delivery! Ravindra was cramped for room. He had to adjust his shot late but the pace off the pitch didn't allow him to do that, the bat was neither horizontal nor vertical as he tried to fend last minute; pad got ticked, top of off got smashed.
New Zealand are 73 for 2 in 11 overs as the game continues to heat up.

Varun gives breakthrough
In just the previous over, Mohammad Shami dropped a return catch of Ravindra on 28. But the following over by Varun Chakravarthy was even more eventful.
Varun then spun one up to Young that strangled down leg in the first delivery of the following over and the umpire responded with his finger to the appeal. But New Zealand batters managed to overturn the decision with review.
Ravindra heaved the next ball towards deep midwicket but Shreyas Iyer could not hold on to the ball with a diving effort there. Two balls later, however, Varun threw a legbreak that trapped Young (15) in front as New Zealand slumped to 58 for 1 in 8 overs.
Ravindra has been joined in the middle by his skipper Kane Williamson. The duo will take strength from their scintillating partnership in the match against South Africa.

Santner opts to bat first
New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner has won the toss and opted to bat first against India in the final of the Champions Trophy in Dubai.
Mitchell Santner: We will try and put some runs on the board. A few blue shirts out there. A great occasion and a great stadium. It is going to be a good final. Slightly different to what we had in Pakistan. We saw India play very well and we will try and get some runs on the board and see how it goes. Different guys have stepped up at different times. It is going to be a good game. Matt Henry has been ruled out and Nathan Smith comes in
Rohit Sharma: I don't mind batting second. It is a good pitch, hasn't change a lot. We have to bowl first and we just need to focus how to restrict them. At the end of the day, what matters is how well you want to play. We don't want to worry about the toss. We have played good cricket. Another important game. We will see what needs to be done. NZ have been a great team. Another challenge, how well we can play. We are playing the same team.

Pitch report
ESPNcricinfo reports: It is the same pitch as the one on which the India-Pakistan game was played. The pitch is very dry, but rock hard. These patches won't break. Not a lot of turn and as the day goes on, the pitch will continue to wear. Batting first will be key. The teams will look to score 270 and above.

Blast from the past
The last time India and New Zealand played each other in the final of an ICC Champions Trophy was in Kenya in 2000, called the ICC Knockout Trophy then.
An unbeaten century by allrounder Chris Cairns trumped a ton from the famed Prince of Calcutta, Sourav Ganguly, as the Black Caps secured a 4-wicket win.

India v NZ with title on the line
Having reached their third straight final in ICC tournaments along with as many Champions Trophy finals on the trot, India cruised into the Dubai final against New Zealand unbeaten.
Both the teams were drawn in Group A where they already met once with Rohit Sharma’s men securing a 44-run win.
Eyeing a record third title, India beat ODI World Cup winners Australia by 4 wickets in the semi-final while New Zealand eased past South Africa in a high-scoring contest in Lahore.
The ICC’s decision to allow India, who refused to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns, to play all their games in Dubai has been criticised.
