Mahmud Hasan Khan has been elected president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for the 2025–27 term, following a decisive win by the Forum panel in the recent board election.
Mahmud, managing director of Rising Fashions, led Forum to a strong majority in the May 31 vote, where it won 31 out of 35 director positions--seven and a half months after the previous board was dissolved.
As per BGMEA convention, the leader of the majority panel assumes the presidency.
On Saturday, Forum finalised its nominations for all eight office-bearer posts.
With no objections raised, the election board declared all nominees elected unopposed.
The BGMEA election board shared the development in a media statement.
The formal handover is set for Jun 16, when BGMEA administrator Anwar Hossain will transfer charge to the new board.
The newly elected office-bearers include six from Dhaka and two from Chattogram.
Chattogram region’s panel leader Selim Rahman becomes first vice-president.

• Enamul Haque Khan as senior vice-president
• Rezwan Selim as vice-president
• Mizanur Rahman as vice-president (Finance)
• Vidiya Amrit Khan as vice-president

Mohammad Rafique Chowdhury from Chattogram has taken the final vice president post.
The results were announced by Election Board Chairman Mohammad Iqbal, former chairman of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).
Board members Syed Afzal Hasan Uddin and Ashraf Ahmed were also present at the time.
According to the board, Sammilito Parishad panel leader Abul Kalam was elected as a director with 666 votes.
The panel’s heavyweight candidate and former BGMEA president Faruque Hassan won a director post with 813 votes.
