The government has ordered all CNG filling stations and petrol pumps across the country to remain open 24 hours a day for a total of 13 consecutive days before and after Eid-ul-Azha to ensure uninterrupted travel during the holidays.

The energy ministry announced the decision on Wednesday ahead of the 10-day Eid holiday. The decision had been made at a meeting held at the ministry on May 27.

Accordingly, fuel stations will operate round the clock for seven days leading up to Eid, the day of Eid, and the five days thereafter, the energy ministry said in a statement.

The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued an order instructing relevant authorities to keep filling stations open during the designated period to ensure uninterrupted vehicle movement and facilitate the supply of fuel during the busiest travel period of the year.

Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on Jun 7.

The government had previously declared holidays on Jun 5-6 before Eid, and Jun 8-9 after the festival, making for six official days off.

Later, the Advisory Council extended the break by adding Jun 11-12 as holidays through an executive order. With the weekend falling on Jun 13-14, officer-goers are set to enjoy a rare 10-day stretch of holidays from Jun 5-14.
