A Notre Dame College student has been found dead in Dhaka's Kamalapur.
His classmates said he was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
The deceased has been identified as eleventh-grade student Arafat Rahman, 17.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where an on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Arafat, the son of a Chattogram port employee, hails from Kishoreganj’s Bhairab.
He used to live with his classmates in a mess on the second floor of an eight-storey building on Jasimuddin Road, Kamalapur and continue his studies from there.
On Monday evening, Arafat's roommate Rimon Chowdhury said: "We are three friends living in a flat. This evening, I saw Arafat's room was locked and there was no response on his end.
"Later, with the help of the building’s caretaker, we broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling fan with a bed sheet. He was first taken to Islamia Hospital and later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital."
The fellow students believe that Arafat committed suicide, but no one could say anything about the cause.
DMCH police outpost Inspector Md Faruk said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy. The matter has been informed to the relevant police station.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, 18-year-old Dhrubabrata Das died after falling from a Notre Dame College building, his classmates said.
He had gone to the college with his father to collect his admit card for the upcoming HSC exams.
