A large quantity of empty bullet parts has been discovered in a drain in Chattogram.

The parts were found on Tuesday in Banglabazar, under Bayezid Bostami Police Station's jurisdiction.

Bayezid Bostami Police chief Md Kamruzzaman told bdnews24.com that scrap collectors spotted the casings while picking up metal parts from the drain. Locals then informed police, who recovered the items.

“The parts we recovered are the ones that get ejected after a bullet is fired. These are not actual bullets or casings,” he said.

He said police are yet to find out how the items ended up in the drain, but added that they had likely been there for some time, as many were covered in dirt.

Kamruzzaman suspects someone had collected these spent components and, finding no use for them, discarded them into the drain.

According to another police officer, around 1,700 parts were recovered from the drain.
