Three people have suffered burns in a fire reportedly caused by a gas cylinder leak in Narayanganj's Fatullah.

The incident occurred early on Sunday morning, and the injured have been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.

The victims are 40-year-old Runa Akter, 60-year-old Harun ur Rashid, and 17-year-old Mim, identified by a single name. Runa suffered burns on 62 percent of her body, while Harun and Mim both had 1 percent of their bodies burnt.

“Gas had leaked from the cylinder and accumulated in the kitchen. When they attempted to light the stove, it ignited, causing the fire," said Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the emergency department of the burn institute, citing the victims’ relatives.

One of the victims is in critical condition, while the others have been discharged after initial treatment, he added.
