The authorities have arrested an individual for allegedly acting as a proxy on behalf of a candidate during the written test for the Motor Transport or MT Operator position at Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The detainee has been identified as Mehedi Hasan, 28, according to the statement issued by the national flag carrier on Saturday.
He was sued in a lawsuit following the detention and handed over to police.
The suspect was a member of an organised gang, the airline said.
According to Biman, Mehedi came to Dhaka’s Civil Aviation School And College to take the proxy exam for another candidate. There, he participated in the test on behalf of a person named Md Riyad Uddin Nahid.
Later, Biman Assistant Manager Kazi Rajib Hossain, who was in charge of the centre, apprehended him as his appearance did not match the admit card.
Upon questioning, Mehedi confessed to acting as a proxy in the exam. Airport police took him into custody afterwards.
Biman said a syndicate is involved in the illegal recruitment at Biman’s numerous posts in a pre-planned manner and Mehedi is an active member of that gang.
Earlier, on Feb 14, the airline authorities initiated a case against three members of the gang for conducting proxy tests for the Ground Service Assistant position at three centres and collecting answers from outside using mobile devices.
