Bangladesh reshuffles 6 top police positions

Bangladesh Police have reshuffled the positions of six senior officers holding the ranks of assistant inspector general (AIG) and deputy inspector general (DIG).

The decision was announced in a notice from the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.

Among the names is that of Rezaul Karim Mollick, who was removed as head of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) following the arrest of model Meghna Alam.

Dhaka Range DIG AKM Awlad Hossain has been appointed the AIG of police telecommunications. Md Sibgat Ullah has been transferred as AIG of the Industrial Police to the AIG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

CID DIG Gazi Jashim Uddin has been assigned to the post of AIG of Industrial Police.

The notice also appointed Police Headquarters AIG Towfiq Mahbub Chowdhury as the principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy, DMP AIG Rezaul as Dhaka Range DIG, and Police Headquarters DIG Shoaib Riaz Alam as the DIG of the Special Protection Battalion, or SPbn.
