Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has asked those involved in the health sector to focus on bringing positive change to it.

He said, “We all know that the health service is unhealthy. And we blame each other – this is not happening because of him, that is not happening because of her. But trading blame will not cure the disease.”

“This needs to be remedied so that we can provide health care properly. All the countries and nations in the world can provide healthcare for their own people better than we can. What are we neglecting? What deficiency do we have that we cannot?”

The head of the interim government was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day Civil Surgeons Conference-2025 at the Chief Advisor’s Office in Dhaka on Monday.

Addressing civil surgeons, he said: "If we can set our minds for changing in this situation, then I am sure that 25 percent of our healthcare services will improve with all the medical equipment or facilities we have."

Noting that this is the first time a Civil Surgeons Conference is being held in the country, Yunus said: “Through the inauguration of the Civil Surgeons Conference, we are unveiling a new mindset and, at the same time, a new path has opened for the health sector of Bangladesh.”

Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum was among the other speakers at the event.
