A fatal head-on collision between a passenger bus and an auto-rickshaw in Pabna has left four people dead, among them a husband, wife, and their child.
Two others were also injured in the crash, which occurred on Thursday afternoon.
The accident took place around 5:30pm on the Ishwardi-Pabna Highway in Baharpur near Mallick Agro Food, according to Ishwardi Police Station chief Shahidul Islam.
The identities of the dead have yet to be disclosed.
The injured were admitted to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
OC Shahidul said the Ishwardi-bound passenger bus collided with an auto rickshaw coming from the opposite direction.
The four passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, with three of them belonging to the same family, he said.
Two other individuals suffered serious injuries and were immediately taken to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Following the incident, the driver and his assistant fled the scene, although the bus was seized by police.
Meanwhile, around the same time in the Upazila’s Bhabanipur, the assistant driver of a truck was run over by the vehicle, leading to his death.
Police seized the truck involved in this separate incident.
