Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has instructed Md Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of the public administration ministry, to provide a more detailed account of the vacancies and assess potential recruitment measures.

The matter was highlighted during an advisory council meeting on Thursday, chief advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said.

Speaking at a briefing in the afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy, he said: “The cabinet was informed today that nearly 172,000 positions are vacant.

“The chief advisor has asked the public administration secretary to gather more details, including the exact number of vacant posts and possible measures for recruitment.”
