Three children have drowned in separate incidents in Chandpur.

The incidents occurred in the Sadar, Faridgonj and Hajiganj Upazilas on Saturday, according to Dr Naser Abul Hasan of Chandpur Government General Hospital.

The victims are 3-year-old Maimuna from Baharia in Sadar Upazila, 2-year-old Miraj from Faridgonj's Bagura Bazar, and 2-year-old Junaid from Hajiganj's Rajargaon -- all identified by single names.

Maimuna's family said that she had suddenly gone missing before her body was discovered in a pond next to their house.

Junaid's family said they were busy with chores when he disappeared. His body was later found floating in a pond near their home.

Meanwhile, Miraj fell into a pond while playing in the morning when no one was paying attention, according to his father. "After looking for him for a long time, his body was found floating in the pond and he was rushed to the hospital."

Doctors declared all three children dead when they arrived at the hospital.
