A bus has run over a motorcycle in Satkhira’s Tala Upazila, leaving a woman and her child dead, while injuring her husband and daughter.

The accident occurred at the Kadamtala intersection on the Satkhira-Khulna Highway around 1pm on Friday, Patkelghata police Sub-Inspector Aniruddha Biswas said.

The dead were identified as Rita Sadhu, 30, and her 3-year-old son Sourav Sadhu. Her husband Apurba Sadhu, 35, and daughter Shobha Sadhu, 9, are receiving treatment at Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

The officer said the family was travelling from Kapilmuni on a motorbike to meet their relatives when an oncoming “Satkhira Line” bus rammed them, killing two on the spot.

The locals grabbed Apurba and his daughter and rushed them to the hospital.

The bus driver and his assistant could not be detained as they fled after the incident, SI Aniruddha said.
