Bangladesh’s trade with India has increased significantly over the past seven months since the interim government assumed power, according to Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

Speaking at a briefing on Thursday afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, Shafiqul said relations between the two countries remain very strong.

"We have very good relations with India. Since the interim government took office, trade has further increased," he said, responding to questions from the media.

However, he did not provide any specific figures regarding the trade growth with India during the past month.

On the subject of visas, the press secretary cited some ongoing complications but clarified that the foreign ministry would be the appropriate authority to address these concerns.

Shafiqul reiterated that Bangladesh seeks strong, equitable, and respectful relations with India, emphasising the importance of fairness and mutual respect in the bilateral ties between the two nations.
