Five people have been killed after a bus rear-ended a stationary truck in Dinajpur's Ghoraghat.
At least 15 others were injured in the incident that took place around 4am on Saturday in the Nurjahanpur area of Ghoraghat municipality along the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway, according to Nazmul Haque, chief of Ghoraghat Police Station.
Police were not immediately able to confirm the identities of the dead or injured.
The truck, loaded with mangoes, had broken down and was parked on the highway, said Nazmul. A Dhaka-bound bus operated by Nabil Paribahan, which had departed from Panchagarh, rammed into the truck from behind.
Three people died on the spot, and two more succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the hospital.
Members of the Army, police, and Fire Service helped rescue the injured and recover the bodies, Nazmul added.
