This year, the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in Chattogram will be held at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque.
The first prayer, led by the mosque’s Khatib Allama Syed Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi, will be held at 8am. The second will be held a half hour later.
On Friday, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain took a tour of the Jamiatul Falah Mosque grounds.
He said, "The Jamiatul Falah Eidgah is fully prepared for Chattogram’s central Eid prayers."
He also extended Eid greetings to residents during the visit, and called on everyone to come forward in Chattogram’s development in the spirit of Ramadan.
For the comfort of the worshippers, arrangements have been made for sufficient fans and canopies. Additional water facilities have also been arranged in water tankers along with the mosque’s ablution area.
Law-enforcing officers will be present at the Eidgah to ensure the worshippers’ security, and the area will be monitored with CCTV cameras.
Additionally, another Eid prayer will be held at 8:00am at the Lal Dighi Chattogram City Corporation Shahi Jame Mosque.
Several other mosques in the city will also host Eid prayers under the supervision of Chattogram City Corporation, including Sheikh Farid Chasma Mazar Mosque, Sugandha Residential Area Jame Mosque, Chawk Bazar City Corporation Jame Mosque, Jahur Hawkers’ Market Jame Mosque, South Khulshi Residential Area Jame Mosque, Arefin Nagar Central Graveyard Jame Mosque, Sagorika Gorubazar Jame Mosque, and Sagorika Maa Ayesha Siddiqua CCC Jame Mosque.
However, unlike previous years, the CCC ward councillors will not be organising Eid prayers at ward levels.
A CCC officer, who asked not to be named, explained that none of the councillors were present to organise the prayers. However, local mosques and Eidgahs will arrange prayers independently, with necessary support from the city corporation.
