Three dead as freight tractor overturns in Rangamati

A six-wheeler freight tractor has fallen over in Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati, killing three workers and injuring three others.

The incident occurred at Ugalchhari rubber garden of the Upazila on Thursday afternoon, said Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), or Upazila executive officer, Shirin Akhter.

The dead were identified as Nowchan Chakma, 45; Nibaran Chakma, and Letto Udo Chakma, all from Boro Kachuchhari. Nowchan was the brother-in-law of Nibaran.

The injured were Sumon Chakma, Sohel Chakma and Dolneye Chakma. Two of them returned home after receiving first aid, while another was sent to the Baghaichhari Upazila Health Complex.

Locals Priyo Bikash Chakma and Kiton Chakma said all the victims were workers.

Baghaichhari police chief Humayun Kabir said, “A freight tractor overturned on the road, causing casualties. Police are on their way to the scene.”
