Police have recovered the body of a man with a gunshot wound to the head from his house in Kushtia’s Sadar Upazila.
They reported that a pistol and a note were found next to him.
The incident occurred in the Tahazmor area of Patikabari Union on Sunday morning, according to Mehedi Hasan, chief of the Islamic University Police Station in Kushtia.
The deceased, 35-year-old local resident Abdur Rahman Uzzal, was a dealer for a biscuit company and also ran a photocopy shop at the local Patikabari market.
Patikabari Police Camp Special Sub-Inspector Shamsul Haque said the victim had a gunshot wound to the head and a foreign pistol was found nearby.
Police are investigating whether the incident was a planned murder or a suicide, he added.
According to the locals, Uzzal used to live alone in his tin-roofed residence in the Tahazmor area. His wife had left for her parental home with their only child about three months ago following a family dispute.
Family members went to call him in the morning when he didn’t wake up as usual. Getting no response after knocking, they looked through the window and saw his bloodstained body lying in bed.
Upon information, police later arrived at the scene and recovered the body by breaking the door open. His body was then sent to the Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.
Officer Mehedi said that whether it was a case of murder or suicide would be clear after receiving the forensic report on the firearm found next to the body.
