Five people have been killed and three others injured after a bus rammed an autorickshaw in Faridpur’s Bhanga Upazila.

The accident occurred in the Chumurdi Bus Stand area around 5:45am on Thursday, according to Rakibuzzaman, chief of Bhanga Highway Police Station.

He said, “The autorickshaw was headed from Bhanga to Gopalganj’s Tekerhat. Along the way it got into an accident when it was hit by a bus.”

“When the incident was reported, the Fire Service rescued the injured, recovered five bodies and sent them to the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex.”

Four of the dead have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, 50, Monir Sardar, 40, Ibrahim Sardar, 70, and Tara Mia, 55.

Police say they hail from different parts of Madaripur.
