Two people have been killed in a road accident in the Noimile Bazar area of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila.

The incident occurred early on Friday morning, said Khaledur Rahman, chief of the Sadar Police Station.

The dead have been identified as van rickshaw driver Abdur Razzak, 60, and his passenger Golam Sarwar, 65. Razzak hailed from Kutubpur village in the Upazila and Sarwar hailed from Mohammadjuma village.

The two were taking the van rickshaw from Mohammadjuma to Sarajgong Bazar as Sarwar, a rice trader, had some business in the area, OC Khaledur said. As they reached the Noimile Bazar area, their van rickshaw was rammed by a vehicle, killing both of them on the spot.

The Chuadanga Fire Service conducted recovery operations at the scene when the accident was reported and took the bodies to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.

Legal action is being taken over the incident, OC Khaledur said. The traffic on the Chuadanga-Jhenaidah road is flowing normally.
