At least 42 people have suffered injuries after a bus tipped over in front of the Army Stadium in Dhaka's Banani.

The incident occurred when the driver of the Gazipur-bound bus lost control of the vehicle carrying garment factory workers shortly after daylight broke on Friday, according to police.

The “Paristhan” bus transports workers of Purbachal Apparel Ltd.

“The bus veered out of control near the U-turn opposite the Army Stadium. Everyone in the bus, including the driver and his assistant, were more or less injured in the incident,” said Russell Sarwar, chief of Banani Police Station.

The injured were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he added.

Around 12pm, the officer said: “The bus is being removed but the traffic situation is fine.”
