3 dead, 3 injured as microbus rams truck in Tangail

Three people have been killed and three others injured as a microbus rammed into a parked truck on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Tangail’s Basail Upazila.

The accident occurred around 9am on Tuesday in the Bypass area of Karatipara, according to Jalal Uddin, chief of Basail Police Station.

The dead were identified as Amzad Hossain, 50, and his two sons Ratul, 14, and Otul, 24. The driver and two other passengers on the vehicle were injured in the accident.

Citing locals, OC Jalal said that the passengers were headed from Dhaka to their ancestral home in Sherpur for Eid celebrations. When the microbus reached the Karatia area, it suddenly veered out of control and crashed into the back of the truck. Amzad and his two sons were killed on the spot while his wife and the truck river were among the three injured.

The bodies have been recovered and sent to the Tangail General Hospital morgue, Jalal said. They will be turned over to the family once the legal formalities are completed.

Both the truck and microbus have been seized, the police official added.
