The Public Service Commission (PSC) has fixed the start date for the written exam for the 46th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
The exam will begin on May 8 across eight divisional cities, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh, the PCS announced on Monday
A total of 21,397 candidates who cleared the preliminary exam are now waiting to take the written test.
“The commission has decided to hold the written exam for the 46th BCS on May 8. The exam will take place simultaneously in the eight divisional cities,” said PSC spokesman SM Matiur Rahman.
“The schedule for the written exam has not been announced yet.”
Details of the schedule, seating arrangements, and instructions for candidates will be available on the PSC’s website (www.bpsc.gov.bd) and Teletalk’s website (http://bpsc.teletalk.com.bd), according to Matiur.
The 46th BCS notification was published on Nov 30, 2023, and the preliminary exam was held on Apr 26, 2024, with 254,561 candidates participating.
The preliminary exam results were published on May 9, 2024, with 10,638 candidates passing.
The written exam was initially scheduled to take place from Aug 28 to Sept 9 last year, but due to political instability, it was postponed on Aug 25.
To ensure fairness, the PSC announced on Nov 18, 2024, that it would publish revised results, allowing an equal number of additional candidates to participate alongside those who passed in the first phase of the preliminary exam.
On Nov 27, 2024, the PSC published the revised results, clearing an additional 10,759 candidates, alongside the 10,638 who had already passed.
