Two people have reportedly been injured after they were shot by India's Border Security Force (BSF) while crossing the border into the neighbouring country from Brahmanbaria's Kasba Upazila.
The incident occurred around 1:30am on Sunday across the border near Shyamnagar in the Upazila's Khadla area, said Lt Col Ziaur Rahman, chief of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 60 Battalion.
The injured are Rabiul Islam, 28, and Azad Hossain, 26, both natives of Shyamnagar.
Local residents said six people crossed more than 150 yards into Indian territory around 1:30am. The BSF fired rubber bullets, injuring two of them.
The injured were subsequently rushed to a hospital by locals. They are now out of danger but details of the hospital where they were treated could not be known.
BGB official Lt Col Ziaur Rahman confirmed that two men were injured by BSF gunfire at the border. The BGB is looking into why they had crossed into Indian territory.
