At least two people riding a motorcycle have died in a road accident in Jashore's Sharsha Upazila.

The accident occurred around 10pm on Wednesday, on the Jashore-Benapole Highway near the Sharsha Mini Stadium, said Sharsha Police Station chief KM Rabiul Islam.

The dead were identified as Brittibaripota village residents Russel Hossain, 20, and Jahid Hossain, 22. Russel was driving the motorcycle.

"Russel and Jahid were going towards Benapole from Navaron. A Benapole -bound private car hit the rear of their motorcycle hard after it veered out of the driver's control. Both riders were thrown from their vehicle and fell on the road," OC Rabiul said, citing the witnesses.

"Both victims died on the spot after they hit their heads."

Navaron Highway Police Station chief Rokonuzzaman said both bodies have been recovered. Police are working to find the car and legal action is being taken over the incident.
