At least 20 people have been injured after a clash between two sides over a land-related dispute in Gopalganj’s Kotalipara.

The incident occurred between two factions of the Fakir clan in Barshapara village around 9am on Tuesday, according to Md Abul Kalam, chief of Kotalipara Police Station.

Siraj Fakir, a village resident, went to cut down a fish enclosure on land next to his house, police said, citing the injured and locals.

His cousin Gaus Fakir blocked him from doing so.

This led to an argument between the two sides and a clash broke out with sticks, spears, and shields.

At least 20 people from both sides suffered injuries. Of them, 12 have been admitted to the Gopalganj 250-Bed Special General Hospital.

Three of them were later sent to Dhaka with serious injuries.

So far, no side has filed a complaint, OC Azad said. Legal action will be taken once a complaint comes in.
