The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet on Sunday to determine the date of Eid-ul-Fitr in Bangladesh.
According to a statement from the Islamic Foundation on Saturday, the meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm at the foundation's conference room in the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain will preside over the session.
Earlier at 10am, ministry secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik visited the National Eidgah to assess preparation progress.
The Islamic Foundation has urged people to report any sightings of the Shawwal moon on Sunday via telephone (02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, or 02-41050917) or fax (02-223383397 or 02-9555951).
Sightings can also be reported to local deputy commissioners or Upazila executive officers.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of a month of fasting and is the most significant religious festival for Muslims.
This year, Ramadan began on Mar 1.
If the Shawwal moon is sighted on Sunday, Ramadan will end with 29 days of fasting, and Eid will be observed on Monday.
If the moon is not sighted on Sunday, Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Eid will be celebrated on Tuesday.
