A house fire in the Kamalbagh area of Islambagh in Old Dhaka has been brought under control after an hour.

The fire, which started at 3:15pm on Saturday, was controlled within an hour by eight Fire Service units.

The two-storey building houses a plastic factory below and a residence above. Fire Service personnel are still investigating the cause of the fire in the brick-walled tin shed.

Fire Service Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman said they are investigating whether the fire began in the house or the factory. The extent of the damage could not be determined immediately.

The agency reported receiving the alert at 3:17pm, with the first Lalbagh unit arriving within 8 minutes.

Eight units responded in total, including another from Lalbagh, two from Hazaribagh, two from Palashi, and two from Siddiqbazar.

The fire was controlled by 4:27pm after an hour of effort.
