Two people, including an elderly man, have died after being electrocuted in Chandpur Sadar Upazila.

The incident took place around 11:30am on Friday, according to Bahar Mia, chief of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station.

The dead have been identified as Montu Dhali, 70, and Anwar Hossain Khan, 55.

Montu’s son Al Amin suspects their house was already electrified due to an earthing issue when Anwar came to discuss a marriage proposal.

“As he was leaving, he touched the tin wall of the house and was electrocuted. My father was electrocuted as well while trying to save him. Both were rushed to Chandpur General Hospital, where doctors declared them dead,” he said.

Asibul Ahsan, resident medical officer at Chandpur General Hospital, confirmed that both men had died before arriving at the hospital.

Bahar said that the families of the dead have not lodged any complaints. Two separate cases of unnatural death have been registered at the police station.

The bodies were handed over to the families.
