The Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh has raised several demands, including justice at the international court over the massacre and ongoing attacks by Israeli forces in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

The organisation also demanded the interim government to scrap all the contracts involving Israeli institutions, and to boycott the products made by "Zionist companies".

The demands were made at the “March for Gaza” rally organised by the organisation at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday.

Bengali daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman read out the declaration on behalf of the political leaders and people present at the rally at around 4pm.

Earlier, in solidarity with the "No work, no school" campaign, people from all walks of life joined the strikes in educational institutions across the country and in Dhaka on Monday.

The Palestine Solidarity Movement said in a statement on Friday, “For the first time, people from all walks of life, political and non-political, will come together to show solidarity with the Palestinian people at the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan."

Peace-loving people from all over the world, including Europe and America, are taking to the streets to protest Israeli brutality in Gaza.

In Bangladesh too, numerous political, social, and religious organisations have been demonstrating against the ongoing atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza.

The rally is a continuation of the protest, the Palestine Solidarity Movement said.

Large crowds amassed at the Suhrawardy Udyan to join the rally.

Although the march was scheduled to begin at 2pm, thousands of protesters started congregating at Shahbagh from parts of the capital through five points in the morning.

Protesters waved banners and placards bearing slogans such as “Palestine Zindabad” (Long live Palestine), “Action to action, direct action”, and “Crush the black hand of Israel”.

At one point, Suhrawardy Udyan and its neighbourhoods were filled to the brim with large crowds.

Symbolic coffins and effigies representing civilian casualties were also carried during the march.

Several participants were also seen hurling shoes at posters of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing anger over their roles in supporting or justifying Israeli policies.

This crowd towards the park is seen even after 4pm, resulting in traffic jams on multiple roads in Dhaka.

The rally, presided over by Maulana Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, the khatib of the national mosque Baitul Mukarram, formally began at 3pm.

The declaration read, "Today, we, the people of Bangladesh - who know the history of oppression, embody the spirit of protest, have come together to stand with the people of Gaza.

“Today's rally is not just a protest, it is our answer before history, a commitment, and a pledge."
