The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Atik Morshed and his wife, Jakia Sultana Jui, as part of an investigation into alleged financial misconduct and irregular recruitment practices at mobile financial service provider Nagad.

The inquiry also involves claims of embezzlement amounting to Tk 1.5 billion.

Atik , a personal aide to Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, the interim government’s special assistant for posts, telecommunications, and ICT, is accused of influencing recruitment at Nagad, including allegedly appointing his wife to a managerial position.

The ACC previously conducted a raid at Nagad’s Banani office following complaints regarding irregularities in the company’s hiring process.

In a statement issued after the operation, the commission said it had uncovered evidence of malpractice in recruitment, prompting a formal investigation.

As part of the ongoing inquiry, the commission has also requested relevant documents linked to the suspected embezzlement.

The documents will be carefully reviewed, said the ACC. A detailed report will be prepared by the enforcement team once the analysis is complete.
