Students from Dhaka College and City College are clashing once again, leading to unrest in the area.

On Tuesday afternoon, a group of Dhaka College students causing an uproar proceeded towards City College and began throwing brickbats.

Despite the clash and unrest, traffic on the roads remains as normal, according to Mohsin Uddin, acting chief of New Market Police Station.

A minor incident led to a scuffle between the students and escalated into a clash, police said.

Law enforcers say a Dhaka College student was allegedly beaten by City College students on Monday, prompting Dhaka College students to attack City College students in retaliation on Tuesday, leading to the clash.

Traders and businesses in the area have to regularly endure clashes and unrest between the students of the two colleges. Many say they are fed up with the situation.

Riazul Islam, a user on Facebook who says he works at a pharmacy in the area, said: “They have studied only to be inhuman. Every couple of days they show their true colours.”
