Another victim has died from burns suffered in a house fire in Dhaka’s Ashulia, bringing the death toll to two.

The victim, 32-year-old Sumon Mia, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Sunday.

"Sumon died at 12:35pm during treatment at the Intensive Care Unit. He had suffered burns on 99 percent of his body,” said Dr Shawon Bin Rahman from the institute's emergency department.

As many as 11 people, including three children, were burnt in the fire that broke out on Friday night in Zirabo.

Earlier in the day, 32-year-old Shewly Akter passed away after suffering burns on 95 percent of her body, Shawon said.

Among the 10 survivors, four remain admitted to the High Dependency Unit, or HDU, one in the ICU, one in the general ward, and four in the post-operative ward, according to Shawon.

"Eight of them are in critical condition, while four have serious injuries. One of the victims, Sharmin, is currently on mechanical ventilation.”

The other victims have been identified as Zahura Begum, 70, Md Monir Hossain, 45, Shurjo Banu, 50, Sohel Mia, 38, Sharmin Akter, 35, along with Shamim, 15, Mahadi, 7, Sowayed, 4, and Sumaiya, 3 -- all identified by single names.
